Apple Releases Mac OS X 10.6.8 and Leopard Security Updates

Apple has released Mac OS X 10.6.8 update for Macs running Snow Leopard. The company also released Security Update 2011-004 for Macs running Leopard (10.5).

Mac OS X 10.6.8 includes the following fixes:

• Enhancements to the Mac App Store to get your Mac ready to upgrade to Mac OS X Lion.
• Resolves an issue that may cause Preview to unexpectedly quit.
• Improves support for IPv6.
• Improves VPN reliability.
• Identifes and removes known variants of MacDefender malware.
• Corrects timezone data in iCal for Lisbon-Portugal.
• Adds the ability to use Kerberos authentication to a web proxy server.
• Fixes an issue when saving documents from Xcode or TextEdit when using an NFS home directory.
• Fixes an issue when importing certain media files into Final Cut Pro.

Both Mac OS X 10.6.8 and Security Update 2011-004 for Leopard addresses security issues in the following products: AirPort, App Store, ATS, Certificate Trust Policy, ColorSync, CoreFoundation, CoreGraphics, FTP Server, ImageIO, International Components for Unicode, Kernel, Libsystem, libxslt, MobileMe, MySQL, OpenSSL, patch, QuickLook, QuickTime, Samba, servermgrd andsubversion. To install the update click the Apple logo then choose Software Update.
