Opera mini now supports Arabic, iPad – Banned in Saudi and UAE

Opera mini web browser for the iPhone was updated to be a Universal App with iPad support. Opera mini 6.0 also adds Arabic language support as well as Retina display support and general performance improvements. The app is available in most App Stores except two.

Since Opera mini is rated 17+ “You must be at least 17 years old to download this app” that means that it’s not available in the Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates App Stores as we stated before. The censorship of 17+ apps is a surprise and we expect that a regulatory authority in the UAE has requested the ban and just like FaceTime it was applied to Saudi Arabia. 17+ includes violent games, medical apps, almost any app with web access and many more.

So to download Opera mini you will need a US (or any other country) iTunes account.

Opera mini is free and available in most App Stores.

About Khaled A.

  1. I still don’t understand what these local regulatory bodies want..I’ll bit they don’t even use iPhones. They just impose laws and regulations on the whole region for nothing.

  2. It’s because Opera can open banned websites. 😛

  3. and it remains blocked…
