Apple to Discontinue Xserve in January 2011

Apple has announced that they will discontinue their high end professional server line, the Xserve starting on the end of January of next year. Xserve is Apple’s high end 1U rack space servers running Mac OS X Server.

Apple also said that the Mac mini server is their most popular server platform. Apple also added the option to sell Mac Pro computers with Mac OS X Server.

The company also posted a transition guide for customers interested in buying a Mac mini server or Mac Pro server instead of Xserve.
