Samba launches mobile banking solutions for the iPhone

The Samba Financial Group, a bank in Saudi Arabia, has announced the launch of their mobile banking solutions for the Apple iPhone and Blackberry devices. This came a month after they released their iPhone app.

Here is the press release from Samba Bank as published on many newspapers and websites. I find it odd that they called the “iPhone 4” “iPhone 4G”:

Samba Financial Group, the premier banking services provider in Saudi Arabia announced the formal launch of their mobile banking applications for the Apple iPhone and Blackberry handheld instruments. It is a fully transactional service that allows Samba customers to check their accounts, make payments and transfer funds through their mobile phones at anytime, and from anywhere using the same user name and login password as on Samba online.

Speaking about the innovative ‘Samba Smart Solutions’, Chairman of Samba Financial Group Mr. Eisa Al Eisa, commented:”Internet and Mobile Banking services are fast becoming spectacular gateways for information, sales, service and perhaps the most versatile channels for customer interaction. Mobile banking is a direct, convenient and hugely innovative service that proudly reaffirms Samba’s place as an innovator in technology driven customer convenience.”

The new Samba iphone and Blackberry applications are now available for free download. They support numerous smart phone devices including, all the latest Blackberry handheld models (Bold, Curve) and all recent models of the Apple iphone (3G, 3GS & 4G). A full list of applicable models is available on Samba Online. Once the application has been installed onto the relevant device, Samba customers can ‘login’ to their banking accounts and effect transactions as easily as they do on a personal computer using the same user name and login password as they would to log into Samba online.

For the Apple iphone, Samba customers can download the free Samba iphone application from the Samba page at Apple itunes App store. The Samba Blackberry application is available for free download at the Samba online banking site.

In the interest of customer protection and information security, Samba has already launched its ‘2nd Factor Authentication’ security feature. It provides online and mobile banking customers with an electronic ‘token’ that generates a unique password to authenticate their identity every time they log in. This again reaffirms Samba’s commitment to protecting customers’ personal information and providing a secure online environment to conduct their transactions. It is important to note that Samba customers can only access Samba mobile banking services if they hold a personal electronic authentication token. Applying for a token is an easy process that can be completed at www.samba.com or at any Samba branch.

Samba has an unmatched tradition of innovation in Saudi Arabia and has been repeatedly voted the best bank in Saudi Arabia by multiple prestigious bodies around the Middle East and the world, year after year. This new achievement further strengthens Samba’s pride of place as the most innovative bank in Saudi Arabia and an institution that is constantly engaged in developing superior products provided through a world class service delivery and distribution mechanism.

Press release end.

Now, Samba, please redesign your website.
