Computer security company Intego has issued a warning from a spyware included in some websites that provide free Mac software. Intego did not mention the names of these websites.
The spyware is called OSX/OpinionSpy, it steals personal information and records user activity. It runs as root and uses port 8254.

Remember to not download software from suspicious websites. A lot of pirated applications include malware. Make sure that you download from reliable websites such as: MacUpdate and VersionTracker.
Update: According to The Loop, Intego will release a list of the affected apps tomorrow.
