iPad Day 1 Sales: 300,000 units sold

Apple has announced in a press release that they have sold over 300,000 iPads on the first day. Sales include deliveries of pre-ordered iPads, deliveries to channel partners and Apple Retail Store sales. 300,000 is a lot less than the estimated 600-700k.

According to the press release, iPad users have downloaded over 1 million apps and over 250,000 books from the “iBookstore” in the first day.

“It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world—it’s going to be a game changer,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad.”
