Apple has doubled their worldwide smartphone market share in the last year. According to Gartner the iPhone share increased from %5.3 in early 2008 to %10.8 in 2009. This increase has made Apple the third-largest smartphone maker in the world (after Nokia and Research in Motion). Apple also have twice as much share as HTC (maker of many Windows Mobile and Google Android smartphones).
The increase came at the expense of Nokia who had a major loss in Q1 2009. Nokia’ worldwide smartphone share dropped from %45.1 to %41.2 in the last year.
