iPhone OS 3.0 announcement

Today Apple announced more than 100 new features in the iPhone OS 3.0 event. iPhone OS 3.0 beta will be available to developers today and it will be released in the summer of 2009.


  • Copy and Paste available to all applications.
  • MMS support.
  • SMS forwarding and deleting individual messages.
  • Push notifications.
  • Voice memo.
  • In-App purchases.
  • Turn by Turn.
  • Third party accessory applications.
  • Peer-to-Peer connectivity.
  • CalDAV and .ics calendar support.
  • Search mail and full iPhone search using Spotlight.
  • Note synchronization.
  • Landscape keyboard and orientation support for more applications.
  • Stereo Bluetooth (A2DP).

Apple also announced “Support for more languages, improved keyboard for them as well”. We do not know if it includes Arabic support or not.

iPhone OS 3.0 will be free for all iPhone 3G users. It also works on the original iPhone but without some features like MMS and stereo bluetooth. iPod touch users will pay $10 for the update.
