The iPhone SIM free site was updated with actual information and video about their product.

An Arabic shop is also available, with only an input form to enter your information. More updates when I get a response from them. And I hope they offer it for a cheaper price.

iPhone software unlock video

Engadget have a full video of the process.

Please note that the software cost $100. While it is cheaper and safer than a hardware hack, if Apple releases an update that locks it up then your screwed.

Please be aware you are purchasing software that will be installed on your computer which will unlock your phone via wifi. In the event Apple comes out with a new firmware upgrade which will lock your phone again you hereby agree that Wireless Imports nor its vendor will be held liable or responcible for unlocking your handset again. If your handset becomes locked you will be charged to unlock it again.

One million iPhones, iPhone in UAE and Saudi hacker unlocked the iPhone?

Today, September 10th, Apple announced one million iPhones sold (not shipped) until now.

“One million iPhones in 74 days—it took almost two years to achieve this milestone with iPod,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “We can’t wait to get this revolutionary product into the hands of even more customers this holiday season.”

In other news, it seems that UAE’s telecom companies Etisalat and Du are in talks with Apple to release the iPhone in the Emirates.

Du and Etisalat are currently in high stakes negotiations with Apple to become the exclusive supplier of iPhones in the UAE.

And finally, this newspaper (Arabic language) claims that a Saudi hacker managed to “create a new hack”, from the translation, to unlock the iPhone to work in the Saudi Telecom network. The newspaper also mentions that he is working on an Arabic localization to the device. All the best luck to him!

APPLE ME @ Gitex

Currently i’m writing this from Apple ME lounge. you can see the new released stuff from apple there but not the one currently in development. for example the new IMacs are displayed but not the new ipod . i expected to see a demo of the new mac OS X Leopard but No only the current mac OS.
there was the Mac OS X Arabic displyaed but it appears that it’s only translating most of the interface not completely Arabic.

Was there any iPhone? No iPhone was displayed but there was one IPhone which one lady take it out and playing in front of people with it (”Just to showoff”) people started to ask her but she keep saying that it’s personal use . ( guess it’s unlocked IPhone since she is using it here).
again very disappointed at them. I have one big Q when is apple going to focus on ME users?

Gitex - Dubai and a shocking news!

This year i expected Gitex to be better but unfortunately it wasn’t. it’s very dull and lame nothing really interesting about it.
i have been going to Gitex for the last 5 years. from that time Gitex going down in case of excitement and preparation.
Really i didn’t expect that from them i have only went from hall 1 till hall 4 and let me tell you I’m already bored and want to leave.
apart from meeting the companies that i wanted to meet nothing is really interesting in Gitex this year.

iPhone 8GB for $399. Apple gives early buyers $100

If bought an iPhone recently, you might be able to get a $200 refund from Apple.
Apple.com released an open letter from Steve Jobs offering $100 to all early iPhone owners.

Second, being in technology for 30+ years I can attest to the fact that the technology road is bumpy. There is always change and improvement, and there is always someone who bought a product before a particular cutoff date and misses the new price or the new operating system or the new whatever. This is life in the technology lane. If you always wait for the next price cut or to buy the new improved model, you’ll never buy any technology product because there is always something better and less expensive on the horizon. The good news is that if you buy products from companies that support them well, like Apple tries to do, you will receive years of useful and satisfying service from them even as newer models are introduced.

In other news, a brand new $399 iPhone is on the way to a certain someone.

Toyota releases iPod integration kit

This is good news because as far as I know almost none of the car retailers here offer an iPod kit. Toyota is a popular brand in Saudi Arabia and I am sure it will sell fast.

Leftlanenews is reporting that Toyota is finally shipping the iPod integration kit they announced earlier this year for current Toyota and Lexus cars. Much like the kits from VW, BMW, and others, it allows you to plug your iPod into your car via a Dock connector cable in the glovebox. Naturally you can control your tunes from the head unit (or steering wheel) and track information is displayed on the head unit display. It runs $300, presumably from dealers, and it takes about an hour for it to be installed.
